Building and Supporting Our Community
Councilman Dufour meets residents where they are and is focused on supporting policies that build our community up, not hold it back.
Councilman Thomas W. Dufour believes a strong community is built by listening to residents, honoring our past, and planning responsibly for the future.
In his first term, he’s worked to bring people together, celebrate what makes Brook Park unique, and take meaningful action that reflects our shared values.
Removing Blight and Reclaiming Our Spaces
One of Councilman Dufour’s top priorities has been revitalizing neglected areas. He voted to purchase and demolish the long-abandoned BP gas station at Smith and Snow, clearing the way for safer, cleaner development at one of our city’s most visible intersections. He also worked with Mayor Orcutt and Councilman Mencini to develop the Storefront Targeted Area Redevelopment Program (STAR) to invest $500,000 into improving our main business corridors.
Honoring Heroes and Hardworking Residents
Thomas proudly voted for the Hometown Heroes Banner Program, a heartfelt tribute that honors Brook Park’s veterans by displaying their banners throughout the city. He also introduced legislation alongside Councilman Poindexter declaring April 28th as Workers Memorial Day, ensuring Brook Park formally honors workers who lost their lives on the job.
As a council representative to the Citizen of the Year Committee, he’s helped recognize residents who go above and beyond to serve their neighbors and make our city better.
Leading Through Engagement and Innovation
Believing that government works best when it listens, Councilman Dufour has held four—and counting—public “office hours” events at local businesses, giving residents a chance to speak directly with their elected official in a relaxed, informal setting.
He also:
-
Sponsored legislation to provide suicide prevention training across our community, equipping residents with life-saving tools and awareness.
-
Introduced first-of-its-kind legislation regulating electric vehicle charging infrastructure, ensuring Brook Park is positioned for the future of transportation in a way that benefits both residents and businesses.
Thomas W. Dufour is committed to a city where progress means participation, pride, and people-first policies. Re-elect Councilman Dufour and help keep Brook Park a place we’re all proud to call home.
